§ 12-25. Extension of water line.

  • (a)

    Extension of the water line shall be made only where it is determined to be economically feasible to the municipality, and all extensions of the water line shall be located in the interests of fire safety as determined by the municipality.

    (b)

    The cost of extension of the water line shall be paid by the person desirous of water service. In the event that two (2) or more persons desire water service, the cost shall be computed on a pro rata footage basis from the existing main to the meter installations.

    (c)

    All construction work shall be performed by the municipality, or at its discretion, contracted for by competent persons. In the latter case, all construction work shall be supervised by the municipality.

    (d)

    All water mains shall be minimum six (6) inches in diameter, although the municipality may require a larger size in diameter in the interest of fire safety and future development. All pipe used for water mains shall be rated for fire protection purposes and shall be to the municipality's specification.

    (e)

    All installation work for water mains shall be subject to the town's specification and shall be subject to inspection by the municipality prior to acceptance. All water mains, along with fire hydrants required by section 5-2, shall be installed prior to the commencement of construction so as to provide fire protection during the construction.
