§ 8-68.1. Garage sale signs.

  • (a)

    Regulated. The placing of signs, posters or placards advertising private garage sales, yard sales or any private noncommercial sales on or along the public right-of-way or on public property in the municipality hereby is prohibited except as follows:

    (1)

    The above-described signs, posters or placards may be placed on public right-of-way or on public property for no longer than seventy-two (72) hours and must be removed by the person posting such material within seventy-two (72) hours of posting.

    (2)

    All signs, posters or placards placed as provided hereinabove must have written thereon the name of the owner or person placing the material and that person's telephone number and address.

    (b)

    Penalty for violation. Whoever violates the provisions of this section shall be punished as provided in section 1-8.

    (c)

    Affect on political signs. No provision of this section shall be construed to prohibit the placing of political signs, posters or placards, upon private property not a public street, sidewalk or other public right-of-way.
