§ 13-69. Raffle permit.

  • (a)

    Any charitable organization may be issued a special permit to hold a single raffle under the provisions hereof.

    (b)

    Raffle permits may be issued upon the approval of either the mayor or the governing body on a permit form provided for such purpose.

    (c)

    The governing body may issue rules and regulations for operation of raffles, compliance with which shall be necessary prior to issuance of a raffle permit.

    (d)

    Each applicant for such a permit shall file with the municipal clerk or mayor a written application therefor in the form prescribed by the municipality.

    (e)

    Applicants must apply for a separate permit for each raffle proposed to be held.

    (f)

    The governing body may make or cause to be made an investigation of the qualification of each applicant and merits of each application, and may examine or cause to be examined the books and records of any organization to whom a permit is issued.

    (g)

    The permittee shall pay to the municipality five dollars ($5.00) for each permit applied for, to be submitted with each application.

    (h)

    Any person, personally or by agent, who shall violate any provision of this section or any provision of a permit issued hereunder shall be a disorderly person and, if convicted of violation hereof, shall be fined not more than ten dollars ($10.00) for each offense. Each day that any such violation continues shall constitute a separate offense as to each violator.
