§ 8-120. Definitions.

  • As used in this article, the following terms shall be defined as follows:

    Governing body: Mayor and board of aldermen.

    Parade: Any march, moving display, or procession of any kind and for any purpose, in or upon any street, sidewalk, right of way, park, or other public place in the municipality.

    Picketing: Any march or procession of any kind, or any moving or stationary staging of any kind, in or upon any street, sidewalk, right of way, park, or other public place in the municipality, for public viewing or for exposure to the public, in protest of or in advocacy of any cause, issue, policy, or set of circumstances of any kind.

    Public demonstration: Any ceremony, show, pageant, or staging of any kind, moving or stationary, consisting of people, signs, physical props, and/or sounds of any kind, in or upon any street, sidewalk, right of way, park, or other public place in the municipality.

    Public display: Any parade, picketing, demonstration, march, procession of any kind, ceremony, show, exhibition, pageant, or staging of any kind, moving or stationary, in or upon any street, sidewalk, right of way, park, or other public place in the municipality.

    Public solicitation: The act of asking or trying, while in or upon any street, sidewalk, right of way, park, or other public place in the municipality, money or anything of value from members of public.
