§ 15.5-26. Definition of signage.

  • (a)

    Any symbol, device, image, poster, flag, banner, billboard, design, or directional sign whether painted upon, attached to, constructed on, or otherwise maintained on any premises in the historic district shall be designated as a sign.

    (b)

    Any of the above that contain any words, letters, or parts of letters, figures, numerals, phrases, sentences, emblems, devices, trade names, or trademarks by which anything is made known, whether for advertising purposes or historic information shall also be considered as a sign. Included are those used to designate an individual, a firm, an association, a corporation, a profession, a business, a commodity or product, or a historic property or structure.

    (c)

    Any of the above which are visible from any public street and are used to attract attention shall be subject to this article.
